‘It’s shameful that the Welsh Assembly plans to re-name as a Welsh Parliament. This can only damage our democracy. We have just witnessed a General Election campaign which has led to further confusion over what areas are devolved and non-devolved.
This vanity project will cost the Welsh taxpayer millions of pounds that could and should be spent on frontline services, such as the NHS and policing, two areas which the Welsh Government have said they would like to spend more money on.
The Centre for Welsh Studies find it outrageous that in the consultation keeping the current name wasn’t on the ballot paper. This costly proposal has no mandate from the electorate and if politicians in Cardiff Bay feel this is what the people of Wales want then take it to a referendum and let the people decide’.
